N3148M is a highly modified Piper PA-12, with tundra tires. It was used as shuttle from the campsite here between Shublik and Sadlerochit Mtns to a bench further north on the coastal plane on the Canning River. This plane is a workhorse for Alaska. Its 180 hp motor combined with extended flaps makes it ideal for hauling loads in and out of off airport destinations.
